A man has been apprehended by the authorities in connection with a devastating crash that occurred near Elliot Farm in Lakeville on Friday, resulting in the death of a 75-year-old man and leaving three others injured and hospitalized.

Richard Reed, a resident of Lakeville, tragically lost his life at the scene of the four-vehicle collision, which took place around 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Lakeville Police Chief, Matthew Perkins, along with the office of Plymouth District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz, issued a statement providing information on this heart-wrenching incident.

The authorities have identified David Delorenzo, aged 73 and also from Lakeville, as the individual arrested in connection with this fatal crash. Delorenzo has been charged with multiple offenses, including motor vehicle homicide, driving under the influence, driving under the influence causing serious bodily injury, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and speeding. The police chief and the public prosecutor have confirmed this in their statement.

According to the Lakeville Police Department, officers received a distress call reporting an accident on Main Street in the vicinity of Elliot Farm at approximately 5:30 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered a four-vehicle collision involving a Hyundai Santa Fe, a Toyota Camry, an Audi S4, and a Chevrolet Silverado.

Tragically, Richard Reed was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Camry was immediately taken to a nearby hospital to receive medical treatment for injuries sustained during the crash, as stated in the official report.
