Man Arrested for Murder of Girlfriend’s Mother Over Marriage Dispute
A 23-year-old man from Yerawada, identified as Shivanshu Dayaram Gupta, has been apprehended by the Chaturshringi police in connection with the brutal murder of his girlfriend’s mother, Varsha Khsirsagar. The incident, which occurred on January 18, was a result of an apparent disagreement over the couple’s intention to get married.

The investigation revealed that the victim had strongly opposed the relationship between her daughter and the accused, leading to a heated altercation. Varsha Khsirsagar had repeatedly asked Gupta to stay away from her daughter, but tensions escalated on Thursday between 12:03 am and 12:38 am, resulting in a violent confrontation.
During this fateful encounter, it is alleged that in a fit of rage, Shivanshu Dayaram Gupta strangled Varsha Khsirsagar with a dog leash. The horrifying act of violence ended her life tragically.
Balaji Pandhare, the senior police inspector at Chaturshringi police station, stated, “The accused has been taken into custody, and an investigation is currently underway. The motive behind the murder appears to be the victim’s strong opposition to the marriage.”

A case has been registered at Chaturshringi police station under sections 302 and 201 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which deal with murder and causing the disappearance of evidence, respectively.
