Las Vegas Bicyclist Garry E. Dies Four Days after October East Valley Crash

Accident – Death – Obituary News : LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has recently received information from the office of Clark County’s coroner medical examiner regarding the tragic death of a bicyclist who was involved in an October east valley crash.

According to police reports, on October 24th of last year, Garry E., a 52-year-old resident of Las Vegas, was riding his bicycle near the intersection of Sloan Lane and Whispering Pines Avenue around 7:09 p.m. This incident took place outside an implied crosswalk, as the bicyclist attempted to cross Sloan Lane from the west side to the east side of the street.

At the same time, Cassie L., a 30-year-old woman from Las Vegas, was driving her 2013 Hyundai Elantra northbound on Sloan Lane, approaching the T-shaped intersection with Whispering Pines Avenue. Tragically, a collision occurred when Garry suddenly turned right from the center turn lane and crossed into Cassie’s path.

In an attempt to avoid the accident, Cassie immediately applied the brakes of her vehicle and swerved to the right. However, despite her efforts, a collision became unavoidable. The impact of the collision resulted in Garry sustaining life-threatening injuries.

Emergency services were called to the scene, and Garry was swiftly transported by ground ambulance to UMC’s trauma section. Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of medical professionals, Garry succumbed to his injuries on October 28, as confirmed by the office of the Clark County coroner medical examiner.

Garry was riding a 26-inch Huffy Mountain bike at the time of the accident. His untimely death marks the 158th traffic-related fatality within the jurisdiction of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department in 2023.
