Man Dies After Being Attacked Outside House of Blues in River North

Over two months have elapsed since a 47-year-old man was assaulted outside of the House of Blues in River North, resulting in his tragic death, according to local authorities.

Andrew Hulburt was found unresponsive on the sidewalk around 11:30 p.m. on November 15. Sadly, he later succumbed to a severe head injury. On January 18, Chicago police apprehended Jamie Miller, a 29-year-old individual who was identified as one of the assailants responsible for Hulburt’s demise.

Miller has been charged with felony murder, which carries the possibility of death or injury.

Andrew Hulburt died from injuries sustained in an attack outside the House of Blues on Nov. 15.

According to an insider source at NBC Chicago, Miller is associated with a gang known as the “flyer boys,” who distribute flyers while demanding money or engaging in pickpocketing.

Hulburt’s mother, Anita, described her son as a “very amiable individual.”

“…He had a great rapport with people,” she said. “He relished life, and following his college years, he relocated to Chicago.”

Hulburt spent his formative years in Iowa and had been residing in Chicago before his untimely demise.

“Oh, I miss him dreadfully,” Anita expressed. “He would visit me every month from Chicago.”

Although the news of Miller’s arrest brings a bittersweet feeling for Anita, it also rekindles the pain she has been enduring.

“It feels like we’re reliving everything all over again,” she shared.

As of Saturday, Chicago police confirmed that Miller was the sole individual in custody in connection with Hulburt’s death. The investigation remains ongoing.
