29-Year-Old Man Fatally Shot in Lexington, Marking the City’s First Homicide of the Year

Lexington, the second-largest city in Kentucky, was struck by tragedy as it recorded its first homicide of the year. The Lexington Police Department and the Fayette County Coroner’s Office confirmed the death of a 29-year-old man in the incident.

The authorities responded to a distress call reporting a shooting victim in the early hours of Sunday. The incident took place in the 1000 block of McClain Drive, prompting immediate action from the police. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim with a gunshot wound. They promptly transported him to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The victim has been identified as Quante Johnson, as stated by the Fayette County Coroner’s Office. The tragic incident took place at around 3:30 a.m., and Johnson succumbed to his injuries at 5 a.m. at the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital.

Detective Kristyn Klingshirn, in a news release on Sunday, assured the public that the Personal Crimes Section is actively investigating the case. The Lexington Police Department is determined to bring justice to the victim and hold the responsible individuals accountable.
