22-Year-Old Tamil Nadu Native Missing in Temple Pond at Varkala

A 22-year-old Tamil Nadu native named Bharathi went missing in a temple pond at Varkala on Saturday evening. Bharathi, hailing from Tirunelveli, was enjoying a day out with his two friends, when tragedy struck during their bathing session at the pond. Currently, the fire and rescue team is actively involved in search operations to locate the missing youth.

The incident occurred around 7 pm, shortly after a group of 25 individuals from Chennai arrived at the Varkala Janardhana Swamy temple following a visit to the beach. After paying their respects at the temple, Bharathi and two other members from the group decided to take a refreshing dip in the pond. Unfortunately, Bharathi got trapped in the muddy bottom of the pond and vanished without a trace.

Upon realizing the dire situation, the other members of the group immediately alerted the temple authorities, who swiftly informed both the police and the fire force. The Varkala police have registered a case in connection with this unfortunate incident.

Praveen J S, Varkala’s inspector of police, shared his insight on the ongoing search operations, stating, “The search operations are currently in progress. Due to the size of the pond, rescue operations are proving to be quite challenging. However, we remain hopeful of finding Bharathi tonight. It is important to note that the group decided to enter the pond despite the restrictions imposed by the temple authorities.”

As the search continues, authorities are determined to exhaust all efforts to locate Bharathi and bring him back safely to his loved ones. The incident serves as a reminder of the potential dangers that can arise during water-related activities and the importance of adhering to safety guidelines and restrictions.
