21-Year-Old Man Apprehended for Threatening to “Blow Up” Ram Temple in Ayodhya

A 21-year-old man, known as Intekhab Alam, has been arrested in Bihar’s Araria district for making a threatening call to the police, with plans to “blow up” the highly revered Ram temple in Ayodhya on January 22. The arrest was conducted at Alam’s residence in Balua Kaliyaganj, Palasi police station area, late on Saturday, according to the Superintendent of Police for Araria, Ashok Kumar Singh.

Alam, who has no previous criminal record, dialed the emergency helpline number, 112, on January 19, impersonating “Chhota Shakeel,” a close associate of the notorious underworld figure Dawood Ibrahim, as confirmed by Mr. Singh. During the call, Alam explicitly expressed his intention to detonate the Ram temple in Ayodhya on the scheduled date. However, Mr. Singh also noted that Alam appears to be mentally unstable.

Arrest and Investigation

Following Alam’s threatening call, a case has been registered at Palasi police station due to the sensitive nature of the matter. The police have seized Alam’s mobile phone and shared the call details with the cyber cell for further investigation.

“As soon as the call was received, details were shared with the cyber cell. The mobile number from which he had made the call was found to be registered in the name of his father,” stated Mr. Singh.
