Nagcarlan Tragedy: Two Killed, 15 Injured in Jeepney Crash

MAP of Nagcarlan, Laguna. A tragic incident unfolded in Nagcarlan town, Laguna province on Friday afternoon, January 19, when a passenger jeepney lost control due to brake failure, resulting in the deaths of a two-year-old girl and a 45-year-old man. Additionally, 15 individuals sustained injuries in the multiple-vehicle collision.

The victims were identified as Sandra Margarette Arevalo, a two-year-old resident of Barangay Poblacion 2, and Fabian Audije, a 45-year-old resident of the same area.

According to the local police, the unfortunate incident occurred around 5:20 p.m. when the jeepney, driven by Dario Baldivia, 50, experienced brake failure while traveling on a slightly descending section of a road in the town proper.

Unable to control the vehicle, Baldivia crashed into a tricycle, e-bike, sports utility vehicle, a truck, owner-type jeep, and two motorcycles before finally coming to a halt.

Authorities are now preparing to file appropriate charges against Baldivia in connection with the incident.
