The Incident
The teenager’s aunt, known as Love, narrated the incident to reporters in Port Harcourt, the state capital. She explained that she had sent the girl on an errand last Friday but became concerned when the girl did not return home. The next morning, the girl revealed that the police officer had held her in his office at the Bori Area Command and allegedly raped her until daybreak.
The victim’s guardian stated, “She told me that one police officer with two stars at the Area Command held her in his office at the Area Command, Bori, and raped her till daybreak. That he threatened to shoot her if she shouted. So because of that, she kept quiet. So when she came back, I checked her as a mother and saw that somebody had touched her.”

Emmanuel’s colleagues then took him to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department in Port Harcourt, where he is currently detained. The distraught aunt is demanding justice for her niece and urges a thorough investigation into the matter.
Call for Unbiased Investigation
Rainbow Watch And Development Centre, a rights group following the case, has called for an unbiased and thorough investigation. The group’s Executive Director, Michael Gbarale, expressed his concern and emphasized that the incident must not be brushed under the carpet. Gbarale believes that justice should be served to all parties involved, and the outcome of the investigation must act as a deterrent to other officers involved in such misconduct.
