Richmond Police Investigating Shooting Incident at Chippenham Hospital’s Mental Health Facility

The Richmond Police Department has launched an investigation following a shooting incident that occurred at the Tucker’s Pavilion, located within the premises of Chippenham Hospital’s mental health facility. The incident took place at approximately 4:11 a.m. on Friday, December 22.

Upon receiving a distress call reporting a shooting, officers swiftly responded to the scene. The officers, who happened to be in the emergency area of the hospital at the time, were able to quickly reach the location of the incident.

Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered a male individual suffering from non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. The victim was later identified as a patient receiving treatment at the hospital. Thankfully, his injuries are not believed to be critical.

Furthermore, the perpetrator, a 27-year-old man from Glen Allen, was apprehended without resistance and taken into custody by the responding officers. The suspect surrendered himself voluntarily, allowing for a peaceful resolution to the incident.

The Richmond Police Department is working diligently to gather all available evidence, interview witnesses, and determine the circumstances that led to this unfortunate incident. The motive behind the shooting is yet to be established, and it remains an active part of the ongoing investigation.
