Two Individuals Charged with Second-Degree Murder in Minneapolis Shooting

Minneapolis, MN – In a tragic incident that occurred last month in north Minneapolis, two individuals, Dandre Franklin and Lavester Tramaine Breham, have been officially charged with second-degree murder. The victim, identified as 37-year-old Mikiyel Patton, was found inside a parked Honda CR-V with multiple gunshot wounds to his head and neck area on December 19, 2023.

Local authorities were alerted to the shocking development when Minneapolis police discovered Patton’s lifeless body in the front passenger seat of the vehicle. The parked Honda CR-V was located along North Newton Avenue near Oak Park Avenue at approximately 6:35 p.m. Despite the efforts of first responders, Patton succumbed to his injuries at the scene, according to court documents.

An investigation into the incident revealed a significant connection between the murder and an ongoing Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives (ATF) case. The Honda CR-V in which Patton was found was linked to the active ATF investigation, and both Franklin and Breham emerged as subjects of interest in this federal probe.

While the charging documents do not specify a motive for the killing, investigators were able to gather valuable evidence. Surveillance footage from the area where Patton was discovered, as well as from a residence in Brooklyn Park where Franklin and Breham were known to stay, revealed suspicious activity. The video footage captured the two individuals cleaning the CR-V just two hours before the fatal shooting occurred. Additionally, cellphone data analysis placed them at the scene of the murder at the approximate time it took place.

Following the incident, cellphone records indicated that Franklin and Breham made their way to a residence in Prior Lake, where Franklin’s girlfriend lived. They subsequently returned a BMW, which Franklin had been driving, to a dealership, as detailed in the court documents.

Further investigation involved DNA testing on the Honda CR-V, which yielded critical evidence. Discharged cartridge casings found inside the vehicle were forensically linked back to Franklin and Breham, strengthening the case against them.

Both Dandre Franklin and Lavester Tramaine Breham currently face charges via warrant and could potentially be sentenced to up to 40 years in jail if convicted of second-degree murder.

This case has shaken the Minneapolis community and continues to be a subject of interest and concern. As legal proceedings unfold, investigators strive to uncover more details surrounding the motive and circumstances of this tragic incident.
