Man Charged in Connection with Fatal Crash in Lakeville, Massachusetts

A man has been charged by Lakeville police in connection with a fatal crash that occurred on Friday night. The incident took place on Main Street in the area of Elliot Farm, prompting a response from law enforcement around 5:30 p.m.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered a four-vehicle collision involving a Hyundai Santa Fe, Toyota Camry, Audi S4, and Chevrolet Silverado. Tragically, Richard Reed, a 75-year-old passenger in the Camry and resident of Lakeville, was declared dead at the scene.

The driver of the Camry was taken to a local hospital to receive medical treatment for their injuries. Meanwhile, the driver of the Santa Fe, identified as 73-year-old David DeLorenzo from Lakefield, was transported to Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton.

The driver of the Audi was also taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford for treatment of their injuries. Fortunately, the driver of the Chevrolet Silverado only required on-scene medical attention.

Following an investigation into the incident, Lakeville police arrested DeLorenzo. He now faces multiple charges, including Motor Vehicle Homicide, Operating Under the Influence of Liquor, Operating Under the Influence of Liquor Causing Serious Bodily Injury, Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Speeding, and Marked Lanes Violation.

DeLorenzo is currently being held on $10,000 cash bail and is expected to appear in Wareham District Court for arraignment on Monday.

Lakeville Police are working in collaboration with the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office and the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section to investigate the crash.
