Accident – death – Obituary News : Four-Year-Old Boy Succumbs to Suspected Dengue Fever in Tenkasi

In a tragic turn of events, a four-year-old boy from Tenkasi has sadly lost his life to what is suspected to be dengue fever. The young child, identified as S Aswanth, was a UKG student at a private school in Alangulam. He was admitted to Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital (TvMCH) but unfortunately succumbed to the illness on Wednesday evening.

Aswanth’s battle with fever started ten days prior, prompting his family to seek medical assistance at various private hospitals in Alangulam and Pavoorchatram. However, as his condition deteriorated, a private hospital allegedly diagnosed him with dengue fever. Acting upon this diagnosis, he was immediately referred to TvMCH, where he tragically passed away due to multiple organ failure.

This incident marks the second fever-related death in Alangulam block within the past 20 days. Last year, a 10-year-old boy named S Seenivasan from Kadankaneri village faced a similar fate, losing his life to viral fever with hepatic encephalopathy on December 29. These unfortunate occurrences have spurred health officials into action, intensifying mosquito eradication measures in Alangulam.

Alangulam block has seen a significant increase in dengue fever cases this month, with 15 children already infected by the disease. Currently, two of these children are undergoing treatment. To combat the outbreak, health officials are urging local body authorities to allocate more domestic breeding checkers (DBCs), as the shortage of DBCs remains one of the primary reasons for the rapid spread of dengue.

It is crucial to address this alarming situation promptly and effectively. Health officials and local authorities must work hand in hand to implement comprehensive measures that will curtail the breeding and proliferation of disease-carrying mosquitoes. By prioritizing mosquito eradication, we can protect the health and well-being of our community, especially our vulnerable children.
