Warning Issued as Fly-tippers Continue to Blight Amir Khan’s Multi-Million Pound Wedding Venue in Deane

The highly anticipated opening of the Balmayna, a multi-million pound wedding venue in Deane, Bolton, is being overshadowed by an ongoing issue with fly-tippers. The brainchild of Bolton Olympian Amir Khan, the venue is set to open its doors later this year, but the surrounding area is being marred by the presence of bags of waste illegally dumped by irresponsible individuals.

Deane Identified as Fly-tipping Hotspot

The Balmayna, located on Washington Street in Deane, is eagerly awaited by locals and visitors alike. However, the area has recently gained a reputation as a hotspot for fly-tipping, causing concern among residents and business owners. Ward councillor Jack Khan has issued a warning, stating that action will be taken to address this issue.

Amir Khan’s wife, Faryal Makhdoom, expressed her disappointment, saying, “It’s just so horrible. We spent so much on the building to make that area look nice and to provide jobs for people in Bolton and Greater Manchester. So, for people to do something like this upsets us so much. We hope the local council can get involved and help us out a bit.”

Fly-tipping Crackdown Planned

Cllr Jack Khan, representing the Rumworth ward, revealed that the council is planning to crack down on fly-tipping this year. The initiative includes imposing more fines on offenders and launching educational campaigns to raise awareness about the issue. Cllr Khan is also considering installing signs in the area to warn potential fly-tippers of the consequences and discourage them from dumping rubbish illegally.

He explained, “I am trying to get signs put up to raise some awareness on fly-tipping. I am speaking to mosques in the area to educate people there and will make a video about it to share with the community. We want to make people understand that this is their own area and community.”

Community Involvement and Cleanup Efforts

In addition to awareness campaigns, Cllr Khan and his team are actively engaging with residents to combat the fly-tipping problem. They are visiting houses to discuss the issue and providing skips for a one-off event to help clear existing rubbish. However, Cllr Khan emphasizes the importance of community participation in reporting suspicious activities and keeping a vigilant eye on the area to prevent future incidents.

He stated, “People need to take control and report it if they see it or suspect it and keep eyes and ears on it. We are doing what we can, but a lot of the times we clean it and five weeks later, there’s rubbish there again. We are going to clamp down on fly-tipping with more fines. We don’t want to fine people in a cost-of-living crisis, but we will if we catch you fly-tipping.”

The issue of fly-tipping near the Balmayna on Back Deane Road has already been reported, but it continues to be a recurring problem. The local council is determined to tackle this issue head-on and ensure that the surroundings of the prestigious wedding venue remain clean and attractive for visitors.
