Coimbatore: In a shocking incident, the body of a 29-year-old woman was discovered in a well at a farmland in Bodithmmampalayam, Annur. The incident occurred on Friday, and the victim has been identified as Harshini, a resident of Bodithmmampalayam.

Harshini was living with her parents in a farmhouse and working at a private company in the locality. On Thursday evening, Harshini and her mother, Pushpalatha, went to the farm to retrieve the cattle that had gone grazing. Tragically, while returning home, Harshini was chased by a cow and in an attempt to escape, she jumped into the well. Unfortunately, she drowned before anyone could rescue her.

Neighbors rushed to help but their efforts were in vain due to the darkness. The Annur police, along with the fire and rescue services personnel, retrieved the body on Friday afternoon. The body was then sent to the Mettupalayam government hospital for a postmortem examination.

The police have initiated an inquiry into the incident, as they suspect that Harshini may have committed suicide. They discovered a pair of slippers belonging to the deceased near the well and found no evidence of her being chased by cattle. The investigation will involve interviewing Harshini’s friends and family to gather more information.

A case has been registered under section 174 CrPC for suspicious death, and further investigation is currently underway. The police will delve deeper into the circumstances surrounding Harshini’s death in order to determine the truth and bring closure to her family.
