A Beaver Dam resident was arraigned this week after allegedly evading law enforcement officers. Dylan Brzezinski, a 22-year-old man, entered a plea of not guilty by reason of mental defect to a felony charge of Fleeing. The incident in question took place during the early hours of October 27th, as reported by the Beaver Dam police.

Police Officer’s Observation Triggers Pursuit

An alert Beaver Dam police officer spotted a speeding vehicle on Park Avenue, prompting them to activate their emergency lights and sirens. However, instead of pulling over, the suspect behind the wheel accelerated, intensifying the pursuit.

The vehicle in question was clocked at a speed between 45 to 50 miles per hour as it raced down South Center Street. Ignoring a stop sign at the intersection of Rosendale and Curie Street, the suspect eventually came to a halt at the junction of Curie and Madison Street.

A Brief Stop and Unexpected Escape

During this momentary pause, the suspect briefly extended their hands through the window and sunroof before abruptly fleeing the scene again. After a short distance, the suspect stopped once more, exited the vehicle, and then inexplicably returned to it.

End of the Pursuit

The dramatic pursuit finally came to an end on County Road C. At this point, the driver, allegedly identified as Dylan Brzezinski, stepped out of his car for the third time. However, his actions proved to be ill-fated as he was struck in the chest by a bean bag round deployed by law enforcement.

A Bizarre Explanation

When questioned about his actions, Brzezinski reportedly claimed that he felt as if he were in a video game, offering an unusual explanation for his failure to stop during the pursuit. If convicted, Brzezinski faces a potential prison sentence of up to three and a half years.
