PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – Authorities are conducting a death investigation after a body was discovered in Lake St. George in Palm Harbor.

On January 19, 2024, at approximately 7:00 p.m., law enforcement responded to Lake St. George following a request from the Clearwater Police Department to assist in the search for a missing elderly man.

According to reports, 85-year-old Clouster Bryant was reported missing by his family after he failed to return home from a fishing trip at Lake St. George, a location he often frequents.

Deputies initiated a search at the north boat ramp of the lake and located Bryant’s pick-up truck. The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit and Flight Unit were called in to aid in the search. A small John Boat, which had capsized, was found on the south side of the lake.

Authorities discovered a body next to the boat, later identified as Bryant. He was wearing a life jacket, and his fishing equipment was also found nearby.

Officials have stated that there were no apparent signs of recent damage to the vessel, and there is currently no evidence to suggest that Bryant’s death is of a criminal nature.

The next of kin has been notified, according to deputies.

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – Authorities are currently conducting a death investigation after the discovery of a body in Lake St. George, located in Palm Harbor.

According to reports, on January 19, 2024, at around 7:00 p.m., law enforcement responded to Lake St. George at the request of the Clearwater Police Department. The search was initiated to locate a missing elderly man.

The missing individual, identified as 85-year-old Clouster Bryant, was reported by his family after he failed to return home from a fishing trip. Lake St. George is a known fishing spot that Bryant frequents.

Deputies began their search at the north boat ramp of Lake St. George, where they discovered Bryant’s pick-up truck. Additional assistance was requested from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit and Flight Unit. During the search, a capsized small John Boat was found on the south side of the lake.

Next to the boat, authorities located a body, which has been positively identified as Bryant. He was found wearing a life jacket, and his fishing equipment was discovered nearby.

Officials have stated that there were no visible signs of recent damage to the vessel, and there is currently no evidence to suggest foul play in Bryant’s death.

The next of kin has been notified, as confirmed by deputies involved in the investigation.
