Excessive Speed Leads to Catastrophic Collision

According to the Amarillo Police Department, the driver of a Lexus, a 17-year-old female, was traveling at a staggering speed of over 100 mph just moments before the tragic crash. At approximately 12:54 p.m., authorities received a distress call about a major head-on collision involving two sedans.

The white Lexus, driven by the teenage girl, lost control of the vehicle, veered into oncoming traffic, and collided with a Chevrolet Impala that was traveling in the opposite direction. The Impala was occupied by Joseph Hernandez, 37, who was behind the wheel, and his brother, Moses Hernandez, 38, as the front passenger.

Tragic Loss and a Remarkable Survival

Sadly, the 17-year-old driver, identified as Victoria Vasquez by various media outlets and on social media, was ejected from the Lexus during the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene. The two adult occupants of the Impala also succumbed to their injuries, confirmed by authorities.

However, amidst the tragedy, a glimmer of hope emerged. A child, who had been properly restrained in a child car seat, managed to survive the catastrophic crash. The child, whose age has not been disclosed, miraculously escaped with minor injuries. Emergency services promptly transported the young survivor to the hospital for treatment, where they are currently recovering.
