Prior Coverage: Child Found in Critical Condition; Mother Facing Charges

This incident follows previous coverage of a three-year-old found in critical condition in a “filthy” apartment, with the child’s mother now facing charges. The circumstances surrounding this earlier incident, which occurred on January 8th, prompted the involvement of Fairborn officers who were dispatched to the 300 block of Wallace Drive. The 911 call came from a concerned parent who reported that their child was having trouble breathing and was alone in the apartment.

Upon entering the apartment, the police discovered a conscious but unresponsive three-year-old child. Urgent medical attention was immediately sought, with the child being swiftly transported to a nearby hospital. The investigation that ensued led to the discovery of shocking conditions within the apartment.

Disturbing Conditions Uncovered

According to court documents obtained by News Center 7, a search warrant was executed at the apartment. Police found a decaying mouse on the living room couch cushion, along with numerous fly traps covered in dead flies. Additionally, bugs were observed crawling on the walls, floors, and beds. The refrigerator and freezer contained dead bugs and moldy food.

The inspection of the apartment also revealed a bed with a severely soiled mattress and blanket contaminated with feces. Furthermore, numerous empty PediaSure-brand nutrition and protein drinks were scattered throughout the room. The overall state of the apartment was described in court documents as “cluttered and filthy,” rendering it unfit for human habitation. Consequently, Fairborn Code Enforcement condemned the premises.
