In a bizarre incident fueled by jealousy, a police officer came to the rescue of a Thai man who clung to his wife’s car for a staggering 15 kilometres on the Asian Highway in the central province of Ayutthaya. The incident took place on Wednesday, January 17, when Police Lance Corporal Tiwa Puttakawee spotted the man, identified as 40-year-old Sittipunt, holding onto a red car and immediately intervened.

The driver of the car turned out to be Tiwa’s own wife, 39-year-old Sunan, who had her boyfriend as a passenger. The couple had scheduled an appointment to sign divorce papers that day, but their plans were derailed by the chaotic turn of events.

Sittipunt, with tears in his eyes, shared his story with the police officer. He revealed that he had been married to Sunan for 20 years and they had three children together. Despite catching Sunan cheating on him multiple times, Sittipunt had forgiven her. However, things took a drastic turn when Sunan met her lover through the popular TikTok application and asked for a divorce.

According to Sittipunt, he had agreed to let Sunan go and had even scheduled an appointment to finalize their divorce. However, he had one request left – to spend some private time together before parting ways. He asked Sunan to meet him alone, but she showed up with her lover instead.

Sittipunt spotted Sunan and her lover while driving on the Asian Highway and signaled them to stop for a discussion about why she had not kept her promise. However, Sunan refused to halt, prompting Sittipunt to collide his car with hers in an attempt to get her attention. Undeterred, Sunan continued driving while Sittipunt leapt onto her car and held on for dear life for around 15 kilometres. Sunan even tried to shake him off by speeding and attempting to crash her car.

Sunan, on the other hand, claimed that Sittipunt had previously threatened to harm her. Fearing for her safety, she refrained from stopping to talk with him. Despite his offer to take her to the district office, she chose to travel with her lover for protection.

The incident eventually came to a halt when the three individuals were taken to the Bang Pa-in Police Station to settle the matter. It remains unclear whether they were able to reach an agreement.

In conclusion, this shocking incident of a Thai man clinging to his wife’s car for 15 kilometres highlights the destructive power of jealousy in relationships. The police officer’s intervention prevented a potentially dangerous situation from escalating further. Such incidents serve as a reminder to prioritize open communication and seek peaceful resolutions in the face of disputes.
