Man Shot During Attempted Robbery at Gas Station in Orange County

A man was injured after being shot during an attempted robbery at a gas station in Pine Hills, Orange County, Florida. The incident occurred early Friday morning at the Circle K located at 6949 Silver Star Road. According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, two suspects, 18-year-old Tylon Dunn and 25-year-old Robert Menist-Mendez, were apprehended shortly after the incident.

Deputies responded to the scene at around 1:23 a.m. after receiving reports of the shooting. Upon arrival, they found the wounded man and quickly apprehended Dunn and Menist-Mendez across the street. Arrest affidavits reveal that the victim, a man in his 30s whose identity has not yet been released, was shot by Menist-Mendez.

A store employee who witnessed the incident informed deputies that she was taking out the trash when she heard a loud noise from inside the convenience store. Upon entering, she saw her co-worker, the victim, walking towards her, saying that he had been shot. The employee immediately applied pressure to the man’s wound with a towel and called 911 for help.

The victim was found inside the store, lying on the ground, and was heard speaking about a “robbery gone wrong” and how he had been shot with a revolver. He was transported to a nearby hospital in stable condition, according to the arrest affidavits.

Following further investigation and interviews, deputies discovered a revolver with one spent casing, which is believed to be the weapon used in the crime.

Both Dunn and Menist-Mendez now face charges of armed robbery with a deadly weapon and mask. In addition, Menist-Mendez is charged with attempted murder with a firearm, as revealed by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
