Man Arrested After Shootout with Chicago Police on Far South Side
A 25-year-old man, identified as Antwan Dixon from Riverdale, Chicago, is facing criminal charges after a shootout with Chicago police officers on the Far South Side in the early hours of Wednesday morning. The incident occurred in the 700-block of East 131st Street at approximately 1:50 a.m.

According to the Chicago Police Department (CPD), officers were responding to a report of a shooting when they encountered an armed suspect upon arrival. An exchange of gunfire took place between the suspect and the officers. The suspect then fled the scene on foot but was apprehended shortly after by the police.
No injuries were reported in the incident, and a firearm was recovered at the scene. The CPD has charged Dixon with three counts of attempted murder and one count of aggravated use of a firearm.
The Civilian Office of Police Accountability has initiated an investigation into the shooting. This independent agency is responsible for overseeing allegations of police misconduct and ensuring transparency in such cases.
