Man Arrested with Multiple BB Guns and Machete After Shoplifting Complaint in Milford

A man was apprehended by the Milford Police Department in Connecticut after being found in possession of several BB guns resembling real firearms and a machete. The arrest took place on Wednesday following a shoplifting complaint at Dick’s Sporting Goods situated on Boston Post Road.

According to the Milford Police Department, officers were promptly dispatched to the store upon receiving a report from an employee who had noticed a familiar shoplifter acting suspiciously. However, by the time the police arrived, the suspect had already fled the scene in a vehicle.

Shortly after, an attentive officer spotted a vehicle matching the description provided in a nearby Walmart parking lot. Taking swift action, the officers initiated a motor vehicle stop to investigate further.

During the course of the inspection, one of the officers observed what appeared to be an AR-style rifle inside the suspect’s vehicle. Consequently, the suspect, later identified as 40-year-old Oscar Rosado-Nazario from Bridgeport, was immediately removed from the car.

As the suspect was being escorted out of the vehicle, law enforcement officials discovered a black handgun resting on the driver’s seat. Additionally, a machete and narcotics were also found within the vehicle, as confirmed by the police.

However, upon further examination, it was determined that both the rifle and handgun were actually BB guns without any identifiable markings indicating their status as replicas or facsimile firearms. The discovery shed light on the suspect’s intent and potential threat level.

Following the incident, Rosado-Nazario was promptly taken into custody by the police. He now faces charges including three counts of weapons in a motor vehicle, possession of narcotics, and multiple motor vehicle charges. To secure his release, Rosado-Nazario posted a bond amounting to $5,000 and is set to appear in Milford Superior Court on February 14th.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and swift action in tackling potential threats in public places. The Milford Police Department’s prompt response to the shoplifting complaint and subsequent arrest of Rosado-Nazario demonstrates their commitment to maintaining safety and security within the community.
