Accident – Death – Obituary News : Actor Jake Johnson has opened up about how his mother’s intuition saved him from a potentially tragic incident at his elementary school in 1988. Johnson, known for his role in the popular TV show “New Girl,” revealed this during an interview on the “Dope as Usual” podcast.

Back in 1988, Johnson attended Hubbard Woods School in Winnetka, Illinois, just north of Chicago. On that fateful day, his mother made the decision to prevent him from going to his fourth-grade class. Little did they know that a woman would enter the school and open fire.

During the podcast interview, Johnson shared that his mother initially barred him from attending school that day. However, he managed to convince her to let him go on a field trip to Chicago’s Little Vietnam instead. This decision would prove to be life-saving.

It turned out that on the same day as the field trip, a shooter entered the school through the door where Johnson’s class was located. Reflecting on the incident, Johnson said, “I used to get in a lot of trouble as a kid and I used to always talk, so the teacher pushed me in the far right corner. So I sat away from the other kids and I was right by the door.”

According to Johnson, a woman walked into the school wearing only a robe, and he believes that he would have inevitably drawn attention to her presence with his comments and attempts to show off. However, since his class was on the field trip, the shooter continued down the hall and opened fire on another class.

The shooter was later identified as Laurie Dann. Tragically, she killed one 8-year-old student, Nicholas Corwin, and injured five other students. Dann fled the school and broke into a nearby home, where she wounded the teenage son of the homeowners before taking her own life, as previously reported by NBC Chicago.

Johnson often wonders about his mother’s intuition that day and has discussed it with her multiple times. He shared, “To this day, my mom cannot explain why she didn’t want me to go to school when I’ve talked to her. And I brought it up to her a lot. She goes, ‘I don’t know, Jake. I just, I had a feeling in my gut. (If my) kid goes to school, you’re never gonna see him again.'”

This incident showcases the power of a mother’s intuition and how it can play a crucial role in protecting loved ones from potential harm. Johnson’s story serves as a reminder to trust our instincts and listen to those gut feelings that may be trying to warn us.
