A tragic incident unfolded in Pompton Lakes, New Jersey on Thursday night, resulting in the death of a pedestrian. The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office is currently investigating the car crash.

According to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes, the Pompton Lakes Police Department received a report of a pedestrian being hit by a motor vehicle around 7:58 p.m. The accident occurred near the intersection of Ringwood Avenue and Carr Street.

The victim has been identified as 69-year-old Daniel Schneider from Bloomingdale. He was immediately transported to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center, where he was tragically pronounced dead.

The driver of the vehicle involved in the incident remained at the scene and cooperated with the police investigation, according to Valdes.

Authorities are currently working to determine the circumstances and events leading to the crash. Further information will be provided as the investigation progresses.
