Suspects Apprehended in Murder Case of Chumphon Orchard Owner

The Thai Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) has successfully apprehended two suspects in Bang Lamung, Chon Buri, in connection with the murder of a durian orchard owner in Chumphon last December.

The victim, identified as 54-year-old Thawat (no surname given), was brutally killed in his durian orchard. The apprehended perpetrators have been identified as 62-year-old Pramote (surname withheld) and 59-year-old Niyom.

According to the police investigation, Pramote and Niyom meticulously planned the murder, hiring an unknown gunman to carry out the crime. In an attempt to evade justice, the duo fled to Bang Lamung immediately after the orchard owner’s death.

However, their run from the law came to an end when the CIB, armed with an arrest warrant from the Chumphon Provincial Court, successfully captured the suspects on January 16, as reported by Pattaya News.

Initially, the accused protested their innocence, but they were later escorted, handcuffed, and subdued to the Mueang Chumphon Police Station to face the legal consequences.

In another recent development, an intense interrogation is underway involving a Royal Thai Army (RTA) sergeant in connection with a double murder of two petrol station workers that occurred last month.

The as-yet-unidentified suspect is believed to be responsible for the fatal shootings that shook the Thai Laemthong petrol station in Mueang district on December 29, 2021. The suspect, who is currently attached to the 3rd Infantry Battalion of the RTA, denies any involvement in the gruesome incident.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner of the Royal Thai Police (RTP), Surachate “Big Joke” Hakparn, has intervened to oversee the investigation into the murder of Buaphan Thansu, a Thai woman. This intervention follows allegations against officers from Aranyaprathet Police Station in the Sa Kaeo province, who were accused of coercing the woman’s husband into confessing to the crime. However, CCTV footage revealed that the real culprits were five Thai teenagers aged between 13 and 16. As a result, the husband, Panya, was released from prison.
