Tragic Shooting Incident in Texas Leaves Several Dead

A man in the US State of Texas, identified as 46-year-old Alrick “Shawn” Barrett, fatally shot his estranged wife and three other relatives, including his eight-year-old niece, before taking his own life, according to authorities. The incident occurred at a house in Houston over the weekend, sending shockwaves through the community.

Altercation Leads to Tragic Shooting

On Saturday morning, Barrett opened fire at a residence in Houston after returning his young child from a visit. Fort Bend County Sheriff Eric Fagan revealed during a news conference that the shooting took place around 7 am following an altercation between Barrett and his estranged wife.

Upon his arrival at the home, Barrett expressed his desire to reunite with his wife, but she refused. This rejection seemed to have triggered the violent act. Fortunately, Barrett’s 13-year-old nephew and seven-year-old child managed to hide during the shooting and remained unharmed. Barrett’s mother-in-law, who was also present in the house, escaped unscathed. However, the same cannot be said for his wife, niece, and two other relatives.

Authorities Investigate the Incident

The names of the deceased have not been immediately disclosed to respect the privacy of the grieving families. Sheriff Fagan stated that some of the family members lived in the house, while others were visiting at the time of the tragedy. It was revealed that law enforcement had previously responded to a disturbance call in January, prompted by a verbal argument between Barrett and his estranged wife.
