Ahok, the President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero), recently shared the challenges of working in a state-owned enterprise (BUMN). He revealed that even a small mistake can have fatal consequences, and despite working diligently, there is no guarantee of appreciation.
These remarks were made during the groundbreaking ceremony for the first hydrogen refueling station (HRS) in Indonesia, located at the Daan Mogot gas station in West Jakarta on Wednesday (17/1). This HRS is a collaboration between Pertamina New & Renewable Energy (Pertamina NRE) and Toyota, aimed at developing the hydrogen fuel ecosystem in Indonesia. Ahok expressed his gratitude to Toyota for taking the initiative in this project.

“I apologize, Mr. Dannif (President Director of Pertamina NRE), sometimes I get angry because I understand that in BUMN, even if we work well, we may not receive appreciation. Isn’t that right, Mrs. CEO (Nicke Widyawati)?,” Ahok said, as reported by kumparancom.
Ahok also joked that BUMN officials often hesitate to make decisions because even a small mistake can land them in jail.
However, when it comes to the development of the HRS, Ahok assured that the decision was made collectively by the directors and commissioners of Pertamina.
“If we make a small mistake, we might end up in jail again, going through interrogations. So, everyone is afraid. But I say, let’s decide together. This is the decision of the board of commissioners and the board of directors,” he explained.

“We are not cheating, if ordinary people can commit corruption together, why should we be afraid? We are doing this for the country. Let’s decide together and implement it,” Ahok added.
