Principal arrested under POCSO Act for sexually abusing students at CBSE school

The Villupuram All Women Police apprehended the principal of a private CBSE school in Rettanai on Thursday, charging him with sexual abuse against two female students. The accused, identified as 31-year-old Karthikeyan, was taken into custody under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Despite the fact that the victims, who are currently in class 10, had been enduring sexual abuse since October of the previous year, the incident only recently came to light. It was revealed that Karthikeyan had consistently engaged in inappropriate touching, embraced the girls, and called them to his office within the school premises, maintaining complete privacy.

Upon learning about their daughters’ distress, the parents promptly lodged a complaint with the Villupuram All Women Police. Consequently, a case was registered against the principal under Sections 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint) in conjunction with Sections 9 (f) and 10 of the POCSO Act. It was also discovered that Karthikeyan had previously worked as a news anchor at a Tamil news channel, from where he was eventually terminated.

Karthikeyan was presented before a local court, which subsequently remanded him in custody, pending further investigation into the matter.
