Accident – Death – Obituary News : Vijayawada: In a series of successful operations, the police in NTR district have confiscated liquor, gold, silver, and cash worth approximately ₹3.7 crore since the beginning of the year. Police Commissioner Kanti Rana Tata provided this information during a press conference.

The police commissioner emphasized that the vigilance team is working tirelessly to prevent any untoward incidents and curb illegal activities such as ganja smuggling and non-duty paid liquor transactions. To achieve this, the law and order police in NTR district, in collaboration with the special enforcement bureau, have intensified their vigilance efforts.

One of the recent arrests made by the police was that of a 25-year-old named Koganti Vijay Sai from Bapatla district. The police seized 10 bottles of liquor from him. Subsequently, the police discovered a stash of 342 bottles of Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) worth Rs 25 lakh in a godown located in a gazetted officers’ colony in Vijayawada.

Furthermore, the police arrested six individuals from different parts of the district and confiscated liquor worth approximately Rs 2 lakh. Over the past 15 days, a total of 425 cases have been registered, resulting in the seizure of non-duty paid liquor, duty paid liquor, and illicitly distilled arrack worth ₹90.5 lakh.

Moreover, the police have also managed to seize unaccounted cash, gold, and silver ornaments from the accused individuals involved in smuggling activities. The total value of these seized items amounts to Rs 2.8 crore in 23 different cases.

Similarly, the anti-narcotics cell of the Pimpri Chinchwad crime branch has seized 96kg of ganja worth Rs 1.31 crore and arrested six individuals. These operations took place in Ravet, Dharashiv, and Kuruli village of Khed taluka. Additionally, the police have confiscated two ambulances that were being used for ganja smuggling.
