Man Arrested in Red Bluff for Attempted Murder and Arson

RED BLUFF – A recent incident in Red Bluff led to the arrest of a man who has been charged with attempted murder and arson. The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) responded to a report of a male gunshot victim at the 11000 block of Bella Vista Court in Bella Vista on Thursday, January 11. The suspect, identified as Evan Holliday, 33, was apprehended after attempting to flee the scene in a vehicle.

Details of the Incident

Upon arriving at the scene, SCSO deputies contacted the homeowner, Robert Johnson, who informed them that Holliday had been seen wandering around his property. Johnson confronted Holliday, leading to a heated verbal altercation. Armed with a shotgun, Holliday raised the firearm and aimed it at Johnson, who quickly sought refuge inside his residence.

While Johnson and his family were inside, Holliday proceeded to set the residence and Johnson’s vehicle on fire. As Johnson exited his home to extinguish the flames, Holliday once again pointed the shotgun at him. However, before any further confrontation could occur, Holliday fired multiple shots through the front window of the house. Tragically, a juvenile present in the residence was struck by the gunfire and was subsequently taken to a local hospital. Fortunately, the child’s condition is currently stable, and no other children were harmed during the incident.

Arrest and Charges

Following the incident, Cal Fire Law Enforcement Officers joined the investigation to assist with the arson aspect of the case. Meanwhile, Tehama County Sheriff’s Office Deputies located Holliday’s vehicle at a residence on Adobe Road in Red Bluff at around 12:40 on Friday.

In response to the situation, the SCSO Major Crimes Unit and the SCSO SWAT Team were deployed to aid in locating and apprehending Holliday. Their efforts proved successful, as Holliday was found at the aforementioned residence on Adobe Road and promptly arrested. He was subsequently transported to the Tehama County Jail, where he was booked.
