Police Investigate Bomb Threat at Mission House Coffee in Lynchburg

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — The Lynchburg Police Department is currently conducting an investigation into a bomb threat incident that took place at Mission House Coffee on Cornerstone Street on January 17th.
According to witnesses who called 911 at 4:21 p.m. on Wednesday, a man entered the coffee house, dropped a suspicious package on the floor, and proceeded to inform customers that it was a bomb.
In a swift response, officers quickly located and apprehended the suspect without any resistance at a nearby restaurant. As a precautionary measure, roads were temporarily closed, and individuals and businesses in the vicinity were evacuated to facilitate the police investigation.

During the course of the investigation, the suspect was identified as 36-year-old Laurence James Murphy IV, who has been charged with three counts of Threat to Bomb and Attempted Robbery.
