WILKES COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – A tragic incident occurred in Wilkes County on Thursday morning, claiming the life of a Ferguson man. According to the NC State Highway Patrol, the fatal accident took place at approximately 9:50 a.m. on January 18, on Champion Mt. Pleasant Road near Conley Shumaker Road.

Detailed reports from the scene indicate that a 2003 Toyota Camry, traveling in a northbound direction on Champion Mt. Pleasant Road, collided head-on with a 2006 Freightliner M2 box truck that was heading southbound. The impact of the collision resulted in devastating consequences.

Tragically, the driver of the Toyota Camry has been identified as Cameron Mark McNeil, a 57-year-old resident of Ferguson. Unfortunately, McNeil succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident. In response to the crash, the authorities were forced to shut down the area for over three hours to conduct investigations and clear the wreckage.
