Second Suspect Sought in Connection with Edinburg Murder Case
Efrain “Keefer” Tenopala Identified as Person of Interest in Shooting death
Authorities Seeking Information from Public
EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Following the recent arraignment of an Edinburg man on murder charges, authorities have announced their search for a second individual connected to the same deadly shooting. Efrain “Keefer” Tenopala, a 24-year-old man from Edinburg, has been identified as a person of interest in the shooting death of 23-year-old Michael Arevalo.

The incident occurred on January 10, when deputies responded to a shooting in the 5600 block of Wakita Drive in rural Edinburg. Upon arrival, they discovered Arevalo with multiple gunshot wounds. Sadly, Arevalo was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to witnesses, two men dressed in dark clothing and hoodies were seen walking across the street before opening fire on Arevalo. Mario Cordero Jr. was identified as a suspect in the case and was subsequently arrested on murder charges. Cordero Jr. appeared in court on Thursday morning, where his bond was set at $2 million.
Efrain “Keefer” Tenopala, however, remains at large. Investigators believe that Tenopala may have crucial information regarding the incident. In a news release, it was revealed that Tenopala is affiliated with the Sureno 13 Street Gang.
