Investigations have revealed that Jeevan and Sukhi were both daily wage laborers in the city and had met each other while working. On the night of January 7, Jeevan took Sukhi to the Aravalis under the pretext of visiting a temple.

“After reaching a desolate spot, the accused attempted to physically assault Sukhi. When she resisted, Jeevan became furious and allegedly attacked her head and face with a stone to make it difficult to identify her,” said Inspector Samer from Bhondsi police station.

Police scrutinized the CCTV footage from the pathway leading to the Aravalis, which depicted both Jeevan and Sukhi arriving at the location, but only Jeevan leaving after the incident.

The victim’s body was discovered by a group of four women who were gathering firewood in the area on Saturday morning. They immediately informed a forest guard about the body.

“The body was concealed among the bushes. Her face and head exhibited signs of injury, likely caused by a stone. She was covered in blood, making identification challenging. It appeared that the perpetrator intentionally used the stone to disfigure her face… I promptly informed my senior about the matter, and he advised me to report the case to the police,” said Pawan Bharadwaj, the guard who filed a complaint at Bhondsi police station.

An autopsy was conducted, and the body was subsequently identified by the victim’s family members. An FIR (First Information Report) was registered on Saturday under sections 302 (murder) and 201 (destruction of evidence) of the Indian Penal Code.
