27-Year-Old Man Facing Multiple Charges After Striking Police Cruiser and Fleeing from Officers in Scarborough


A 27-year-old man is currently facing a dozen charges after allegedly colliding with a police cruiser and another vehicle while attempting to escape from officers in Scarborough on Wednesday afternoon.

Toronto police reported that the incident occurred in the vicinity of Kingston Road and St. Clair Avenue East at approximately 2:30 p.m. when officers initiated a traffic stop.


As officers attempted to pull over a U-Haul truck for a traffic violation, the driver chose to flee, resulting in a collision with another vehicle near Kingston Road and Guildwood Parkway.


Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the collision.


The driver continued to flee and subsequently collided with a police vehicle in the area of Cumber Avenue and Tivoli Court, approximately two kilometres away from the initial collision.

According to police, there were two officers inside the cruiser, both of whom sustained minor injuries.


Shortly after the incidents, the authorities managed to locate and apprehend the driver, who has been identified as Peter Brady, a 27-year-old individual with no fixed address.


Brady now faces four counts of driving while driving prohibited, two counts of leaving the accident scene/failing to provide his name, one count of failing to stop for police, and obstructing a peace officer.


Police have also charged Brady with four fraud-related offenses, including two counts of possession of property obtained by crime and one count of impersonation to obtain property interest.


In the news release issued on Wednesday evening, the details regarding the circumstances that resulted in the fraud charges were not mentioned. When asked for further information about their investigation, a police spokesperson stated that she did not possess any additional details beyond what was disclosed in the release.


Brady is scheduled to make his court appearance on Thursday morning. At this time, the Special Investigations Unit has not invoked its mandate in relation to the case.
