Toronto police reported that they were conducting a routine traffic stop at approximately 2:30 p.m. in the area of Kingston Road and St. Clair Avenue East. The vehicle in question, identified as a U-Haul truck by CTV News Toronto, failed to stop for a traffic violation and fled the scene. The driver then collided with another vehicle near Kingston Road and Guildwood Parkway. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the collision.

Undeterred, the driver continued to evade police and subsequently struck a police vehicle near Cumber Avenue and Tivoli Court, approximately two kilometers from the initial collision. Two officers inside the cruiser sustained minor injuries as a result of the incident.

The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Peter Brady with no fixed address, was apprehended shortly after the second collision. He now faces a total of twelve charges, including four counts of driving while prohibited, two counts of leaving the accident scene and failing to provide identification, one count of failing to stop for police, obstructing a peace officer, and four fraud-related charges, including possession of property obtained by crime and impersonation to obtain property interest.

In a news release issued on Wednesday evening, the Toronto Police Service did not provide any details regarding the circumstances surrounding the fraud charges. When questioned about the investigation, a police spokesperson stated that they did not have any additional information beyond what was included in the release.
