Tragic Crash Claims Life of 17-Year-Old Boy in Southeast Charlotte

CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A devastating car accident on Wednesday afternoon in southeast Charlotte has resulted in the tragic death of a 17-year-old boy, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD).

The fatal crash occurred shortly before 5 p.m. on Wednesday, January 17, in the 11200 block of E. W.T. Harris Boulevard.

Upon arriving at the scene, CMPD officers were met with a heartbreaking sight. A 1999 Ford Escort, severely damaged, was found along with a 2010 Infinity G37 and a 2012 BMW 335i, both a short distance away.

The driver of the Ford, identified as Daunte Palmer, a 17-year-old teenager, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. The devastating news has been relayed to Palmer’s grieving family.

According to preliminary investigations conducted by CMPD, it was determined that the Infiniti was travelling on E. W.T. Harris Boulevard when it collided with the BMW. The force of this impact caused the BMW to collide with the Ford. Consequently, Palmer, who was driving the Ford, lost control of the vehicle and collided with a tree.

As of now, no charges have been filed in connection with this heart-wrenching incident. CMPD is urging anyone who witnessed the fatal crash or possesses any relevant information to come forward and contact Detective Leung at 704-432-2169, Ext. 6.
