Gulfport Police Department Searching for Suspects in Deadly Shootout

GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX) – The Gulfport Police Department is currently on the lookout for three suspects involved in a tragic shootout at the Emerald Pines apartment complex. This horrifying incident resulted in the untimely death of a woman who was sound asleep in her bed.

The deadly shooting occurred on December 17 of last year, sending shockwaves through the community. In response to this heinous crime, Gulfport PD swiftly took action and apprehended two individuals in connection with the incident. Treyvughn Damon Kirk, 17, was arrested on December 18 on one count of shooting into an occupied dwelling, while Amahdrey Jermaine Shade, 17, was arrested on December 21 with the same charge.

Authorities suspect that the deadly shooting at Emerald Pines may be linked to another shooting that took place earlier that day. According to a press release, an unreported shooting occurred in Gulfport at around 10:27 a.m. on December 17.

Surveillance footage revealed that Kirk and Shade, along with two other individuals, were involved in indiscriminately firing their weapons, causing damage to multiple apartments in the complex.

The two additional suspects have been identified as Ezequal Elijah Simmons, 20, and a 16-year-old whose identity has not been disclosed by WLOX at this time.

Later that evening, at approximately 7:26 p.m., an unidentified individual used a rifle to shoot at a group of people gathered outside the Emerald Pines apartments. Tragically, one victim sustained three gunshot wounds and was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

During this chaotic incident, Jaleal Montrez Malone, 19, discharged a firearm that struck an occupied apartment. Unfortunately, one of the bullets penetrated the apartment of 24-year-old Donna Perkins, striking her while she peacefully slumbered.

Despite the best efforts of medical professionals, Perkins succumbed to her injuries, devastating her loved ones and the community as a whole.

As of Tuesday, Gulfport police continue their search for Malone, Simmons, and the 16-year-old suspect, urging anyone with information to come forward.
