Woman Fatally Shot in Aurora, IL: Investigation Underway

AURORA, IL — A woman was tragically killed on January 13 in a shooting incident near Prairie Street and Woodlawn Avenue, which is currently being investigated as a homicide by the Aurora Police Department.

According to officials, the Aurora police received multiple 911 calls at 4:49 p.m. reporting a car crash and shots fired in the area. Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered a 46-year-old woman inside a vehicle, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, as stated in a news release.

The victim was immediately transported to a local hospital by Aurora paramedics. Unfortunately, she was pronounced dead shortly after her arrival. To respect her family’s privacy, her identity is being withheld until the completion of an autopsy scheduled for January 17, conducted by the Kane County Coroner’s Office.

Authorities have confirmed that no other injuries were reported in relation to the single-car crash. The Aurora Police Department’s investigations division is urging anyone with information regarding the shooting to come forward and contact them at 630-256-5500.
