Man Hospitalized After Collision Between Pick-up and Semi in Fillmore County

Spring Valley, MN – A man from Iowa was taken to the hospital on Tuesday evening after the pick-up truck he was driving collided with a semi-truck at an intersection in Fillmore County.

The collision occurred around 8 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 63 and Fillmore County Road 39, just west of Spring Valley. According to the state crash report, the semi-truck was traveling north on County Road 39, while the pick-up truck was traveling east in the southbound lane of Highway 63. The two vehicles collided in the intersection.

The State Patrol responded to the scene and discovered that both drivers were the only occupants in their vehicles at the time of the crash. The pick-up truck driver was identified as 75-year-old David Maurice Demro from Iona, IA. He sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester for treatment.

The driver of the semi-truck, 56-year-old Patrick John Nesler from Ostrander, was not injured in the collision. The intersection where the crash occurred has a stop sign for traffic entering Highway 63 from County Road 39.

The state crash report indicated that the road was dry at the time of the accident, and both drivers were wearing seat belts. Alcohol was not a factor in the collision.

The Spring Valley Fire Department and Spring Valley Ambulance also responded to the scene to assist with the two-vehicle crash.
