According to the villagers, the ailing man had realized that his death was near and considered performing a terahvi ritual a better option. Singh believed his relatives would not do it after he was gone

In a strange and unexpected turn of events in Etah, Uttar Pradesh, a 55-year-old man named Hakim Singh conducted his own terahvi ritual just two days before his death, leaving villagers and relatives shocked.

As reported by India Today, Singh organized the ritual on January 15, inviting approximately 800 people to the feast. The reason behind this unusual decision was his lack of faith in his family members, suspecting that they would not carry out his terahvi after his passing.

Villagers explained that Singh, who was in poor health, came to the realization that his death was imminent. Believing that performing the terahvi ritual himself was a better option, he feared that his relatives would neglect this important tradition once he was no longer alive.

In addition to his unusual decision, Hakim Singh had also accused his brothers and nephews of forcefully taking over his ancestral land and house. He claimed that they had physically assaulted him in the past.

Notably, Singh’s wife had left him several years ago, and the couple had no children.

In another incident from Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, a man accused in a dowry death case attempted self-harm by slashing his own throat with a blade while inside the court premises.

The man, identified as 35-year-old Shivam Singh from Pawli village, was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital and is currently out of danger. The court has postponed the hearing of the case following this shocking development.

The victim’s wife was found dead at their home, prompting her parents to file a complaint with the Jarcha police.

Shivam Singh was arrested in March 2022 and charged with suspected dowry death under section 304 B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). He was imprisoned alongside his brother but is currently out on bail.

He was scheduled to appear before an additional district judge’s fast-track court I, located in Surajpur, for the recording of the complainants’ statements in the case.
