Phoenix, UK – A tragic incident unfolded late Sunday night when 15-year-old Daniela Espinosa was shot and killed by a close friend inside her family’s home. The shocking incident has left her loved ones devastated and struggling to comprehend the senseless act of violence.

According to Daniela’s sister, Anna Roze Chavez, the entire family was at home when the shots rang out. “I was asleep when I heard gunshots,” Chavez tearfully recalled. “We all rushed over and found Daniela on the floor, bleeding. My dad tried to carry her, but it was too late.” Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, Daniela succumbed to her injuries shortly after.

In the wake of this tragedy, friends and family gathered outside the house, located near 7th Avenue and Broadway Road, to remember Daniela and find solace amidst the heartbreak. Marina Gonzales, Daniela’s aunt, shared that the 17-year-old shooter had been a longtime friend of the family and had been intermittently staying at their home.

Initially, Gonzales believed that the shooting was an accident, a result of the teenager’s foolish behavior. However, doubts have since crept in. “We can’t understand why he would do such a thing,” Gonzales said with a mix of sorrow and confusion. “Daniela welcomed him into our family, and for him to turn on her like this… it’s incomprehensible.”

Daniela was a ninth-grade student at the nearby NFL Yet College Prep Academy. Loved ones remember her as a kind-hearted individual who had a passion for music, volleyball, and basketball. Described as a tomboy with an easygoing nature, Daniela effortlessly made friends wherever she went.

Tragically, Daniela leaves behind seven siblings, who are now grappling with the immense loss of their beloved sister. “She was such a good person,” Chavez said, her voice filled with grief. “Caring, kind, and she genuinely loved everyone.”

The reality of Daniela’s absence is still sinking in for her family. “It feels like a bad dream,” Gonzales admitted. “When I woke up this morning, I hoped it was all just a nightmare. But seeing the news on Facebook confirmed that she’s truly gone, and we’ll never get her back.”

Another family member was also injured during the incident, sustaining a gunshot wound to the foot. Thankfully, they are expected to recover. Meanwhile, the 17-year-old suspect is now in police custody, facing charges of murder and aggravated assault. At this time, the suspect’s identity has not been disclosed.
