Man Charged in Shooting Death of Tennessee Woman at Valdosta Hotel

A man has been arrested and charged in connection to the tragic shooting death of a woman at a hotel in Valdosta, Georgia.

Argument Leads to Fatal Shooting

Valdosta police responded to a call on Sunday, January 14th around 2 p.m. reporting an argument between a man and a woman at the Econo Lodge. According to the caller, the woman was found bleeding on the floor while the man fled the scene.

Victim Found Unconscious

Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim, identified as 41-year-old Jessica Lee Hilliard from Tennessee, unconscious on the floor with a gunshot wound to her head. She was quickly rushed to South Georgia Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead by authorities.

Suspect Captured at Nearby Hotel

Following the incident, law enforcement launched a search in the vicinity of the Econo Lodge. Acting on a tip, officers proceeded to the Days Inn where they apprehended the suspect, 57-year-old Robert Lodge, hiding in a maintenance closet. Lodge was found in possession of a firearm that investigators believe connects him to the shooting.

Suspect Faces Multiple Charges

Robert Lodge has been arrested and charged with felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. The Valdosta Police Department expressed their appreciation for the collaborative efforts of all law enforcement agencies involved in the swift apprehension of the suspect.
