In a horrifying incident that has shocked the residents of Hingoli’s Digraswadi village, a man has been arrested for the brutal murder of his elderly parents and brother. The accused, identified as Mahendra, attempted to pass off the killings as a road accident to mislead investigators. However, the police uncovered the truth during their investigation.

The victims, Kundalik Jadhav (70), his wife Kalavati (60), and their son Akash (27), were found dead with severe injuries in a pit near a notorious accident spot on January 11. The initial assumption was that they had died in a tragic road accident. But upon closer inspection, the police discovered that the injuries sustained by all three victims were not consistent with a road accident.

During the investigation, the police noticed inconsistencies in Mahendra’s statements, which raised suspicions about his involvement in the crime. Superintendent of Police G Sreedhar stated, “The preliminary investigation has revealed that Mahendra meticulously planned the murders due to his resentment towards his parents. He acquired a large number of sleeping pills and executed his plan over a period of three days.”

The Jadhav family were well-respected members of the community, residing in Digraswadi. Kundalik and Kalavati were farmers, while Akash worked as a contract worker in the local gram panchayat. Mahendra, the accused, worked as a cook in a private hostel in a neighboring village.

Initially, the local crime branch believed the deaths to be the result of a tragic road accident. However, Inspector Vishal Patil noticed the similarities in the injuries sustained by all three victims, prompting a closer examination. Assistant Inspector Gheware revealed, “The accused has confessed to his crimes, admitting to spiking his brother and parents’ tea with a large number of sleeping pills. After rendering them unconscious, he electrocuted his brother and bludgeoned him to ensure his death. He then repeated the same method with his mother and father on subsequent days.”

Finally, on January 11, Mahendra staged the accident scene by placing the bodies at a well-known accident spot and using his bike to simulate a collision.
