28-Year-Old Pedestrian killed in Mohali Hit-and-Run Accident

A tragic incident occurred on Sunday night in Bhagwanpur village, Dera Bassi, when a 28-year-old pedestrian lost his life after being struck by a speeding vehicle. The victim, identified as Pawan Kumar from Kudawala village, Dera Bassi, was working as a helper in a graphic company located in Bhagwanpur village.

According to Chandan Kumar, a relative and colleague of the deceased, the incident took place around 9:20 pm while they were walking to their workplace amidst heavy fog. Suddenly, an unidentified car approached them from behind, driving recklessly, and collided with both of them before fleeing the scene.

Due to the impact of the collision, Pawan Kumar and Chandan Kumar suffered severe injuries and were immediately rushed to Dera Bassi civil hospital with the help of onlookers. Tragically, Pawan Kumar couldn’t survive his injuries and succumbed during the course of treatment.

The grieving Chandan Kumar filed a complaint with the Dera Bassi police, who promptly registered a case against the unidentified car driver under Sections 279 (rash driving) and 304-A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code.

This unfortunate incident marks the seventh fatal road mishap in Mohali district this year, shedding light on the urgent need for enhanced road safety measures in the region.
