According to Lori Myles, spokesperson for the Mobile County Sheriff’s Department, this was the second time the young boy had been shot by a gunman who was targeting someone else.

Details regarding the previous shooting that injured the 9-year-old are currently unclear and under investigation.

The 9-year-old boy is currently in stable condition at a local hospital, receiving medical care as a result of the shooting incident.

Authorities are referring to the incident as a “rolling shootout,” which took place around 3 p.m. on Monday along Interstate 165 at the Bay Bridge Road exits in Prichard.

In order to conduct a thorough investigation, authorities closed both northbound and southbound exits on I-165 on Tuesday.

Tragically, the 15-year-old girl who was fatally shot during the incident was not the intended target of the shooter.

Myles revealed that both the 15-year-old girl and the 9-year-old boy were seated in the middle row of an SUV that was targeted by someone who had a connection to an 18-year-old seated in the same row.

As investigations continue, authorities are determined to bring justice to those involved in this shocking incident.

The local community is in mourning as they come to terms with the loss of the young girl, and support is being offered to the affected families during this difficult time.
