A bustling Hibachi Restaurant in Massachusetts turned into a scene of horror on Friday night when a masked assailant shot a young man at point-blank range. The victim, Joe Araujo, 22, was enjoying a delicious meal when the shocking incident occurred.

The Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office released surveillance footage, revealing the calm and calculated approach of the hooded gunman. The assailant walked down the aisle before swiftly drawing a firearm from his jacket and executing Araujo.
“I still can’t believe Joe is dead,” expressed a devastated Ana Inocencio, Araujo’s mother, during an interview with Boston station WCVB. The grief-stricken mother visited her son in the hospital, but the reality of his demise remains unfathomable.
Located approximately 25 miles south of Boston, the Hibachi Restaurant was bustling with diners, including a young child who was unaccompanied. The surveillance footage captured the child playing in a booth just across from where the tragic shooting took place.
Immediately after the incident, a man sitting in a neighboring booth took swift action, ducking for cover and assisting in evacuating two individuals, including the young child. Thankfully, no one else sustained any injuries during the ordeal.

Joe Araujo was swiftly rushed to Good Samaritan Medical Center, where medical professionals pronounced him dead. The loss of such a young life has left his family and friends devastated.
“One question I have is: ‘Why?’ But none of us can find closure until the person responsible opens their heart and reveals why they did this to Joe. He did not deserve this,” expressed Vera Lopes, Araujo’s sister, in an emotional interview with WCVB.
The Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office has indicated that the murder does not appear to be a random act of violence. However, they have yet to provide any specific details regarding a possible motive. The authorities have not made any arrests or announced any suspects at this time.
During the investigation, a Honda Accord was temporarily cordoned off with crime tape. However, it remains unclear whether the vehicle is connected to the shooting, as reported by NBC Boston.
“I’m doing my best to stay strong for him,” Lopes shared. “I loved that kid. He meant everything to me.”
