Investigation Underway into Deadly Shooting Involving Deputies in Lewis County, Tennessee

LEWIS COUNTY, Tenn. – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) is currently conducting an investigation into a tragic incident involving a deadly shooting in Lewis County. The incident, which took place on Sunday, January 14 in the Hohenwald area, is being thoroughly examined by TBI agents to determine the series of events that led to the shooting.

According to preliminary reports, the shooting occurred at approximately 7 p.m. when one man shot another individual. Following the incident, deputies from the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office were able to locate the suspect’s vehicle along Highway 20 in Summertown.

Upon locating the suspect, two officers from the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office were involved in a confrontation with the armed individual, which unfortunately resulted in the suspect’s death. At this time, the identity of the deceased has not been disclosed.

Thankfully, no deputies were harmed during the incident. The TBI, along with their Special Agents, is currently conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deadly shooting.

“TBI agents are working diligently to independently determine the series of events leading up to the shooting. This includes collecting evidence and conducting interviews. Throughout the investigation, all findings will be shared with the District Attorney General for further review and consideration,” stated the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
