The incident occurred at approximately 19:30 when a group of unidentified suspects opened fire on the victims before fleeing the scene. The deceased, all aged between 30 and 40 years old, were fatally wounded, while the injured individuals were rushed to the hospital for medical treatment.

According to Provincial police spokesperson Col André Traut, the motive behind the multiple murders is yet to be determined. “Two other men were also injured during the same incident and are currently receiving medical attention. The suspects responsible for the shooting are currently being pursued by the police,” said Col Traut.

The local community has been left in shock by the incident, as it is considered rare for such violent acts to occur in the area. Funeka Soldaat, Chairperson of the Harare Community Policing Forum, expressed her deep concern and urged law enforcement agencies to leave no stone unturned in their investigation. She also appealed for increased police visibility in the area to help combat crime.

“We are starting the year on a terrible note,” said Soldaat. “The incident has shocked us all, especially considering that some of the deceased were very young. We appeal to anyone with information about the shooting to come forward and inform the nearest police station. We are eagerly awaiting the full report from the officers regarding the cause of this tragic incident.”

Members of the public who may have any information related to the incident are urged to contact Crime Stop on 086000 10 111 or make use of the My SAPS mobile application.
